MENTORING - EUROPE
Corporate Citizenship
Social scientists have known for some time that our social and economic well being is only sustainable if citizens feel and act responsibly in our society. Social capital must be created and preserved just as much as material capital (investment, natural resources) and human capital (education).
Social capital is what holds society together (trust in each other, responsability for each other, networking, civic involvement). Corporate leaders are citizens in particularly exposed positions. Many have realised that what is good for society is also good for their company. Sustainable growth of a company requires good corporate governance and good corporate citizenship. The former will be rewarded by investors and share holders, the latter by stakeholders such as staff and customers.

If a corporation supports morally and financially the mentoring idea, it chooses one of the best opportunities to act visibly and efficiently in the interest of stake holders.  More and more people in the general public are sensitive to the causes of social problems. They  will appreciate this initiative. Active and retired staff members should be informed about the existence of the nearest mentoring organisation or be encouraged to help creating a new one. It is a perfect example for creating closer ties between those who need help (children and their parents) and those who can offer help

How about your corporation?
Is it one that takes corporate citizenship seriously? Is it one with a corporate citizenship policy open to new and innovative projects? Is it one which is not stuck in routine dealings with large well known non profit organisations? If the answer is 'yes' to all these questions, you should contact us.
